“For me, forgiveness and compassion are always linked: how do we hold people accountable for wrongdoing and yet at the same time remain in touch with their humanity enough to believe in their capacity to be transformed?”—~Bell Hooks
I just spent too much time laughing and tagging/untagging myself in pictures of my party that others posted on Facebook. I noticed that I only posted the nice low-key photos here. I am always unsure of how I want to be viewed through my blog and tend to err on the boring side.
I apparently thrive on attention and had 20 or so lovely friends egging on my antics. I am sparing everyone from seeing my red/drunk face, juking on the dance floor or singing with a backup dancer. No need. These good times will have to stay on Facebook where I can place strict access to those that are already used to my loca-ness.
Drake - ‘Best I Ever Had’ (Clean chorus, dirty verses)
A little background, Drake is the kid who played Jimmy on Degrassi who (‘02 SPOILER ALERT!) got shot and was paralyzed from the waist down. In the last month or so, this kid has taken the internet by storm and has all of these elitist rap bloggers talking about how this this guy is great and what not. Jimmy then goes on to also record songs with Jay-Z (aka God MC aka Jiggaman aka Iceberg) and Justin Blaze, so presumably real rappers like him too.
‘Best I Ever Had’ is his first single and is really catchy; it’s got that whole popular r&b vibe that I like so much and something about the way he raps (or “spits” if you will) reminds me of Lil’ Wayne without the Lil’ Wayne voice.
Clean Chorus, Dirty Verses? Win.
This WHOLE album is GOODNESS. I copped it for “mah lil sisssstah”.
I am sitting at my desk twiddlilng my thumbs and staring at the wall. I binder clipped my hair and nose. I am doodling my name and spinning in my chair. I have taken 2 bathroom breaks, a snack break and a wander-the-office break all within the last 30 mins.
This boredom does not mean I don’t have urgent work to do; this means I am not interested in doing any of it. I think that it is Spring fever. I want to be outside and run (ok…walk) free.
today in LA, domestic violence organization peace over violence is sponsoring denim day. it’s named after an italian court decision in 1992 that reversed the conviction of a 45 year old driving instructor who forcibly raped his 18 year old driving student on a deserted stretch of road. the italian supreme court reversed the conviction because the woman was wearing very tight jeans at the time of the rape. in a statement by the Chief Judge, he argued, “because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex.”
the day reminds people that there is no excuse for rape or sexual assault and women’s actions, clothing, appearance, etc, is never an invitation to rape or assault.
she was asking for it with sexy or suggestive clothing
she was flirting online
she was his steady girlfriend

the intensity of military service got to him
she has sex for money
